Well, i'm back, my new com is up and running, an i opened an envelope and got $150 for some good progress thingy. Incredible cuz I haven't seen much increase in the amount of studying i did between last year and this year. they must have sent it to the wrong person. But nvm, i'm taking it, i'm taking it. Thanks.

And like a shit I'm going to use the $150 to buy books. Yes, I am a boring person. But you already know that, no?

Oh, Tari (is that still her name?) called and asked me to check posting results. I'm like 'huh? what posting results?' Oh yes, JC posting results. So I checked and I'm going to YISHUN JC. Where the hell is Yishun JC? What the hell is Yishun JC? Can I back out of this one? HELP!!!!!

And my coms have new names now. The old one is called the Elitist and the new one is called My Little Bike. 'nuff said.

I just won $5 from one of those stupid football scratchcards (pay $1, scratch the thing, if 3 ($1, $5, $10 000, etc.) are the same, you win the amount of money). My father won $2, which is great until you take into account that we spent $6 on the stupid cards and so we only won $1 instead. Bah.

Why couldn't we win the $10 000 instead? Then we would earn....$9999!!!! 0_0

Everyone (well almost everyone) in my house is sick, except me and my father. Okay, 50% of my house is sick, but come to think of it, houses can't get sick. Anyway, someone died in my block and now the whole void deck is full of chairs, wreaths and blankets with cardboard chinese words on them.

I haven't collected my testimonial. I'm going to collect it tomorrow. That's good. I'm sick of being stuck at home. I haven't stepped out of the house (well, buying lunch from downstairs and things like that not counted) since the Sunday before prom. I feel mouldy.

It always puzzles me when people get offended by the remark: Why don't you cut your hair? I've had long hair ever since I was a wee little girl this small and the response I always had (well, the only response I remember giving) was:

Nosey person: Why don't you cut your hair?

Me: Dunno, don't feel like it. Wastes money and I'm stingy. Why? Does it look bad or something?

Nosey person: Nope. It's fine. (Or yes, in that case I should start treating my hair better. But maybe, they thought I was offended and shut up.)

The idea that I should have felt offended only occured to me somewhere around last year. Most people who were asked that kind of questions took it as an insult. Damn. I should have scolded a few more people and thrown a few more punches.

Or should I?

Firstly, why is 'Why don't you cut your hair?' such an offensive statement? For me, it falls into the same category as questions like 'Why are you wearing a white shirt?' My response would be something like 'The weather's hot and a white shirt is more cooling' or 'I like the design of this shirt', etc.

Reasonable answers for a reasonable question.

When people ask 'Why don't you cut your hair?', they can mean anything from 'Wow, there's a person with really long hair. What inspired him/her to keep it so long?' to 'Yucks, your hair sucks and I hate you'. So maybe the person may be just curious, rather than hostile. She may even want to give a compliment!

So the next time someone asks me that question, I've decided to prompt her for the reasons behind it. If she doesn't bear any ill will or is just plain curious, I'll smile and give her a proper, polite answer. If she's one of those people whose hobby is insulting people, I'll throw that punch. *bish*
