::Chinese 'Symbols'?

You are WIND!
WIND is your chinese symbol!

What Chinese Symbol Are You? -- Updated (7/21/03)
brought to you by Quizilla

Dude, it's like the wrong way round, pple.

Every time I see non-chinese fucking up our language, I feel like this =_="'
And calling our language 'symbols'........ AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

::We have no rights to blog anymore.

So this person got sued for bitching about teachers on their blog.

So....can we still blog about anything we like?

Despite what people say, a blog is not an online diary.
Diaries are private. Blogs are not.
If you run a blog, you are like a reporter.
When a newspaper reports irresponsibly, people object to it cause well, it's irresponsible to the readers.
You yourself also have a duty to be responsible to your readers.

Why are these laws around? Goverment wants to control us? It's because some people who have blogs dunno when to keep their mouths shut.
Give some people a bit of freedom and they take it to the limit.
Then its not surprising that soon, no one has that bit of freedom anymore.

Argue about freedom all you like but remember with freedom comes responsibility.
Give people absolute freedom and stuff all turns out screwed.
True, freedom does gives you a lot of power.
Problem is, how many people can control power?

I'm not some government worshipper. I do take offence at certain things that they do which I shall not mention here cause I don't have the $$$ to get sued. (ok la, for example the banning of the gay websites)
But someone bitching about someone's teacher is not a good reason to start a debate about.
Why do you want freedom to blog about what you like?
So that you can bitch and make damaging comments about someone and go scot-free?
Why don't we take it a step further?
So that others can make racist and extremist remarks and go scot-free?

Self-restraint, people.
Be responsible.

::Last real day of hols.

It's like kind of a weird feeling.
Today is the last day I can sleep in while others go to school.

I woke up late today. I felt a bit guilty.
I thought: There will be no working today cause it is the last day of hols.
Then I didn't feel guilty anymore.
So I spent the whole day sleeping, eating and slacking.
Felt quite satisfied.
What a way to end a holiday.

What a difference from my secondary school hols.
I would spend most of the hols sleeping, eating and slacking.
On the last day, I would be trying desperately to do something useful so my holiday would not be totally wasted.
Which never turned out good anyway due to lack of time.

During secondary school time, I would feel that the holiday was too short. Never have enough time to achieve anything. Holidays should go on forever.
Now, I still feel that the holiday could be longer, but it has to end sometime anyway.
Maybe when you can actually make your holiday go on forever (i.e. quit school), you will start to think about whether it's actually a smart thing to do or not.

Is this what they call 'time management'? Have I managed to get more out of my holiday time?
I don't think so.
Because like last time, I still only can do one or two things per day.
It's just that maybe the things that I do now are more worthwhile.

::GEM Registration III

Continued from GEM Registration II.

So I finally got my GEM after the jam cleared (pun NOT intended).

It's called 'Music, Electronics and Robots'.
Something which still had many places left over.
Like I said, registration for majority of the courses were now closed so there wasnt much choice.
Especially the Business courses.

I think I must function very differently from everyone else at SP.
I like Music, Electronics and Robots!!!
WHOOHOOOO!!!!!

::GEM Registration II

Remember GEM Registration I, where I tried and failed to get a GEM?

Today is my second chance.
This time I was smart. I logged in before 9am (start time).
Despite what they said, registration only started at 09:06.
Never mind.
So far so good.

So I click 'Search'.
I wait. I wait.
Same as last time. Nothing doing.
Half an hour later and still nothing doing.
Why?
Do I really have to get my fat ass over to Singapore Poly?

Therefore, I propose: Do away with GEM registration.
Firstly, because it's first-come-first-serve, it causes a massive jam in the beginning, when everybody tries to be the first to get the choices they want.
It's like everyone trying to squeeze in the door at once, less people actually get in than if they all queued up and only entered after the previous guy had done his business.
As a result, the people with slower connections are locked out.
Finally, when the jam clears, the people with slower connections can get in.
Then guess what they find? That they're stuck with shit courses cause all the good ones have been taken.
(What's that I hear? It's their fault for having slow connections?
How can you say something like that? ^%&&#^!!!!!)

The solution?
Learn from NUS. Do bidding.
People are given a number of points to use, and they use them to bid for the courses they want.
Highest bidder gets.
Like COE.

::Community service

Just got terrible news. Got this module called Character Development next semester.

NEED TO CLOCK 10 HRS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE!!
Aiyoh. Like secondary school like that.

Luckily, the flag day I participated in during orientation is counted. 3 hrs!

One friend of mine collected $3.50. Unfortunately, he can't get his 3 hrs because we have to collect minimum $10 before we get the community service points.
Poor guy!
The $3.50 was his own money.

::GEM Registration I

Task: Register online for GEMs (general elective modules).
Time: 1 hr

Easy rite?

NO!!!!!!!!

Ok, 1st step: use Internet Explorer.
What? IE?!!! But that's fucking slow! No Firefox?
Yup, no firefox.
So I used IE. Which was fucking slow. Login page wouldn't even show.
Transfer rate was like hello? in bytes?
Like 40 mins later.... still nothing?
PUI!!!!!!

Ok, fuck it la, I abandon IE. It is a piece of shit anyway. And I use firefox.
So fast and nice!! Boo to IE.
Unfortunately only got shitty courses left liao. But never mind la.
Then I found out why cannot use. I click on the button, then come out one page....'pls click on the button of the GEM you wish to register for.'
Or something like that la. By now, the time is already like 12:53?
Ok fine fine. Go back to IE and wait. Later sure time up one. You people are all bastards.
Then guess what, login page can load leh, you know why?
Because it is 01:03 already. PUIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(While I am typing this, I am still unable to login properly with IE)
So I give up lor, no GEM then no GEM lor. Waste my precious 1 hr.

End result: I got no GEM.
Hahahahahahah

SO WHAT NOW, FAGS?!!!!!

::Just ignore this post, it'll pass, it'll pass

Arnold Schwarzenegger: The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it as long as you really believe 100 percent.

Mark Twain: Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.

The best inspiration is not to outdo others, but to outdo ourselves.

Don't let anyone else's opinion of you get you down, because the only opinion that counts is yours. No one can take that away from you. (Terry Bradshaw)

William A. Ward: Adversity cause some men to break; others to break records.

Take pride in how far you've come, Have FAITH in how far you can go.

Fear is part of the process. If you weren't scared, you'd be in trouble. I was scared to death, but I made fear score more points for me. Fear is right behind me, fear is six inches off my back, that's where fear is. And it's there, it's present, and I can feel its presence. It's not going to catch me. When I'm running, fear is right behind me, and I'm not going to let it catch me. I'm going to take fear and use it to my advantage. It's going to make me run scared. But I won't let it get in front of me; if I did, it would slow me down, it could even make me stop.

If you can imagine it, you can achieve it.
If you can dream it, you can become it.

quotes stolen from here.

::Coconut

Sometimes, you will look up onto the tree and then you will think, "Wah, the coconut up there look damn tasty." So you decide to climb the tree and get the coconut.

Unfortunately, you keep sliding down the tree. Maybe this tree cannot climb one.

Then you look around you and then you see got other things climbing the tree and eating the coconuts. So climbing the tree is not impossible. But then, you look at all of them and then you notice that they are not human. They are monkeys.

Then you think, maybe human cannot climb this kind of tree. After all, monkeys got long tail and long toes and human don't have. Anyway, this tree is also very tall. But then, you want the coconut and you refuse to believe that humans are lesser than monkeys and that you cannot do it.

So everyday you climb, climb. It is very hard and everyday the monkeys will laugh at you and make you feel very stupid. Every day, you blame the monkeys for laughing, the tree for being so tall, coconut for not falling down, God for not giving you tail, etc. One day, you can get up a bit of the tree without sliding. Then you realise that the tree is actually not that tall. It is moderately tall only. It is not that slippery, otherwise you would never have been able to climb up that little bit. Unfortuantely, now you found out you are scared of heights. You don't dare to go any higher. But you still want the coconut leh.

Our biggest limitation exists in our own minds. It is called fear.
Problem is, how do we get past that biggest barrier which is ourselves?

Can any of you guess what this is about?
I go get some yoghurt to cheer myself up.

::神仙果

Here got story.
I say, having a stop-loss order is good, but don't shortchange yourself la.
There's only a thin line between having 神仙果 and having nothing.
If you want to have 神仙果, you run the risk of having nothing.
If you want to be safe, you may not be able to get 神仙果.
Depends on whether you can live with not having 神仙果.
As for me, I am still young. No harm trying for a bit of 神仙果
even if it is just one mouthful.

Gwen, gwen, are you ok?
Dun make me worried leh.

::Ouch

Played around with bike and now my lower back is fucking pain. Shite.

::Instant blog post generator

::Bird.

Went out to bike. Correction: Tried to go out to bike. Unfortunately it rained nonstop. So we were stranded at some void deck taking care of a wet injured bird. Some guy had pushed it into the drain and being the busybodies that we are, we opened the drain cover and pulled it out so that it wouldn't drown when the rain got heavy, and brought it to the void deck. Unfortunately for it, there was a cat there. So we watched the bird and some guy chased the cat away (strangely, he was the same guy who had pushed the bird in the drain). I have no idea whether the guy was trying to be kind or what, but he didn't speak much English and all attempts to communicate with him proved fruitless. At last he said, "You bring it to your side lah" and went off. When we got sick of sitting in the void deck and decided to brave the rain home, we couldn't bring it with us because parents were concerned about bird flu so we put up some kind of cardboard barrier around it to block off the wind. Guess the cats must have got at it by now, but too bad, no choice.

Damn lucky that we decided to brave the rain home cuz it continued for the rest of the day.

Later I found out that the rain had caused flooding in some parts and the water was fucking deep. Wah, damn lucky we were at some void deck, man.

The Eating Test

Here is the analysis:

You've made your way well in this world despite all the obstacles you've had to faced. You have survived a lot more troubles than most people. You have had to deal with difficult people, ridiculous rules, and tempestuous relationships.

Love for you can be as intense as the fire on the face of the sun. You are either very calm on the inside when there is a lot of insanity going on around you, or you shut people up and take charge. You can go to a movie by yourself. You are as comfortable alone as you are with others. You are angry at your parents but you can't change them.

You are a great lover when you find that rare mate who is your equal, otherwise your relationships do not go well. Life is a roller coaster, and you are finding ways to make the good times better. You love sports.

from http://quizbox.com/personality/test43.aspx

The five-question personality test

Here is the analysis:

  1. Your ideal mate has a good figure.
  2. You always compare yourself with others. You make your wishes too difficult to come true.
  3. Success depends on someone's faith in their ability. That's your attitudes towards success.
  4. You think that if you like what you are and have, then no matter what, you will always be happy.
  5. You are emotional, sincere and optimistic.
from http://quizbox.com/personality/test36.aspx

What's in the picture?

Here is the analysis:

  1. The most important thing in your life is money.
  2. The type of friends that you want is those who let you do what you like and forgive you when you have done something wrong.
from http://quizbox.com/personality/test42.aspx

::Working style

Your Working Style

You use you thinking to look for the principles underlying the sensory information that comes into awareness. As a result, you are logical, analytical, and objectively critical. You are not likely to be convinced by anything but reasoning based on solid facts.

While you like to organize facts and data, you prefer not to organize situations or people unless you must for the sake of your work. You can be intensely but quietly curious. Socially you may be rather shy except with your best friends. You sometimes become so absorbed with one of your interests that you can ignore of lose track of external circumstances.

You are somewhat quiet and reserved, although you can be quite talkative on a subject where you can apply your great storehouse of information. In everyday activities you are adaptable, except when one of your ruling principles is violated, at which point you stop adapting. You are good with your hands, and like sports and the outdoors, or anything that provides a wealth of information for your senses.

If you have developed your powers of observing the world around you, you will have a firm grasp on the realities of any situation, and show a great capacity for the important and unique facts of a situation. You are interested in how and why things work and are likely to be good at applied science, mechanics, or engineering. If you do not have technical or mechanical interests, you often use your talents to bring order out of unorganized facts. This ability can find expression in law, economics, marketing, sales, securities, or statistics.

You may rely so much on the logical approach of thinking that you overlook what other people care about and what you yourself care about. You may decide that something is not important, just because it isn't logical to care about it. If you always let your thinking suppress your feeling values, your feeling may build up pressure and find expression in inappropriate ways. Although good at analyzing what is wrong, you sometimes find it hard to express appreciation. But if you try, you will find it helpful on the job as well as in personal relationships.

You are in some danger of putting off decisions or of failing to follow through. One of your outstanding traits is economy of effort. This trait is an asset if you judge accurately how much effort is needed; then you do what the situation requires without fuss or lost motion. If you cannot judge accurately, or if you just don't bother, then nothing of importance gets done.

::Get to know yourself better.

Get to know yourself better

Your view on yourself:

You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:

You are not looking merely for a girl/boyfriend - you are looking for your life partner. Perhaps you should be more open-minded about who you spend time with. The person you are looking for might hide their charm under their exterior.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:

You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:

You like to flirt and behave seductively. The opposite sex finds this very attractive, and that's why you'll always have admirers hanging off your arms. But how serious are you about choosing someone to be in a relationship with?

Your views on education

Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:

You have many goals and want to achieve as much as you can. The jobs you enjoy are those that let you burn off your considerable excess energy.

How do you view success:

You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

What are you most afraid of:

You are afraid of having no one to rely on in times of trouble. You don't ever want to be unable to take care of yourself. Independence is important to you.

Who is your true self:

You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

My inner child is ten years old!

The adult world is pretty irrelevant to me. Whether
I'm off on my bicycle (or pony) exploring, lost

don't understand.

::Is your bike too big or is it just you?

It's a 2005 GT Avalanche 2.0.

I ordered Small. Went to collect it today. Unfortunately it was still too big. I underestimated the size of those damn Americans. Next time I buy an American bike, I shall ask for Extremely Tiny.

So I can just about ride it, but nobody else can. This is not good.

You Are Chinese Food

Exotic yet ordinary.
People think they've had enough of you, but they're back for more in an hour.

You Are 100% Boyish and 0% Girlish

You have a tough exterior - and usually a tough interior to match it.
You're no nonsense, logical, and very assertive.
Sometimes you can't understand women at all, even if you're a woman yourself.
You see things rationally, and don't like to let your emotions get the best of you.

As I suspected. Wait, I think I'm lacking something.

::mmmmmph II

aw. exams just ended and holidays just started. unfortunately most every1 is having promos. Good luck for promos btw and hope u all get the kind of grades you want to get, whatever that means.

Guess I should start working on version 1.? of that stupid game now, while i still have time and before all the stuff starts.

Teacher: When the player gets score 0, why do you congratulate him?

Me: Well, cause we're nice.

Teacher: You shouldn't congratulate if it's not worth congratulating.

Me: Then what do we say then? Booo, you are stupid?

Teacher: Just say 'game over'.

Me: (hm, should have figured that out) ehehehe

Anyway, the other lecturers said 'nice interface'. And that's great cause I did most of the interface! (unfortunately u can't see most of it here cause i didn't do screenshots for everything)
Ya, not all of it lah. Project partner helped in the welcome screen and main gameplay screen. And he has solid programming skills btw.

And how were the tests? I don't want to think about them right now. Wait till they come back and we'll see.

Ya, and I know I did badly for maths. And probably TBCM as well, but that's expected.

^.^
